Future Scholars

Students applying for the OFG Scholarship must be immediately graduating from Garland High School during the semester in which an application is submitted. The student should be pursuing post-secondary education at an accredited institution. To qualify as an OFG Scholar, the student should be high-achieving and demonstrate financial need.

• Completed Application no later than the posted due date. *Any late applications submitted are automatically rejected.*
• Tax Documentation from the latest 2 fiscal years. These include yourself if you work and legal guardian(s).
• Official transcript forwarded to us through the Counselor’s office.
• One-Page Resume
• (2) Personal Statements
- Examine a personal hardship you had to face. Reflect on your actions and decisions during that situation and what influenced them. Also, describe how you were able to manage yourself and others affected by this hardship. (750 words max)
- Describe how receiving this scholarship would impact your personal and educational aspirations. Will there be any particular hardship or financial woe alleviated by receiving this scholarship? Are there any resources, activities, or avenues that this scholarship will help open for you during your higher education journey? (500 words max)
• (1) Optional Statement
- Consider a significant life event or a societal issue. Discuss how individuals can positively or negatively influence the outcome or contribute to resolving the situation. (500 words max)

• Applicants selected for the interview process will be contacted via email for an interview. You will be asked to offer days and times that work for your schedule.
• All interviews will be conducted virtually through Microsoft Teams. Please ensure you have a computer with this application available.
• All interviewees are required to have their cameras on. Please ensure that your camera is operational prior to the interview.
• Prior to the interview beginning, the interviewer will request consent to record the conversation. This is optional, but preferred to ensure a thorough review.

You will be contacted via email if you have been selected for a scholarship within the review timeline. The scholarship will be presented at the annual Awards Ceremony hosted by Garland High School.
